Telegram from Mao Zedong and Others Extending New Year Greetings to Soviet Leaders

Comrade L. I. Brezhnev, Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR:

On the occasion of the New Year of 1963, we extend, on behalf of the Chinese people, the Communist Party of China, and the Chinese Government, to you and through you to the great Soviet people, the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and the Soviet Government, our heartfelt and warm congratulations.

In the past year, the great Soviet people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, have achieved new successes in communist construction. The Chinese people feel immense joy at the achievements of the Soviet people. We sincerely wish the fraternal Soviet people even greater achievements in the new year in the cause of building communism and safeguarding world peace.

The unity of the two Parties and two countries of China and the Soviet Union, and the unity of the socialist camp and the international communist movement, represent the fundamental interests of the peoples of China and the Soviet Union, the peoples of all countries in the socialist camp, and the people of the whole world. In the new year, the Chinese people will, as always, on the basis of Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism, make every effort to strengthen the unity of the peoples of China and the Soviet Union and to strengthen the unity of the socialist camp and the international communist movement. The Chinese people will forever stand together with the Soviet people, uphold the revolutionary principles of the Moscow Declaration and the Moscow Statement, resolutely oppose the imperialist policies of war and aggression, and strive for new victories in the cause of world peace, national liberation, democracy, and socialism.

May the great friendship and unity of the peoples of China and the Soviet Union endure forever. We wish you good health and a happy New Year to all the Soviet people!
