Letter to Yang Kaizhi[1]
(November 15, 1962)

Comrade Kaizhi:

Upon receiving the telegram, I was shocked to learn of the passing of the venerable Madame Yang[2] and am deeply grieved. I hope you and your wife will restrain your sorrow. I am sending five hundred yuan as a token of mourning. For the burial arrangements, she may share the same grave with Comrade Yang Kaihui, my dear wife. Our two families are one family, are one family, with no distinction between yours and mine. I hope you will restrain your sorrow and accept the inevitable.

With respectful wishes for your great peace.
