To Comrades Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi
From Ju Renwu\[1\]
A Comment on His Letter from Xinyang
(August 29, 1962)

He should be ordered to undergo medical treatment, and after recovery, be assigned suitable work. As for the cases he was involved in, they should be handled based on the actual circumstances, ensuring no injustice and no leniency.

**Notes**
\[1\] Ju Renwu, also known as Xiang Ming, formerly served as Acting Secretary of the Shandong Sub-Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Shandong Provincial People’s Government. In 1955, due to alleged involvement in the "Gao Gang and Rao Shushi Anti-Party Alliance," he was subjected to the punishment of removal from his Party positions, as approved by the CPC Central Committee. In May 1963, a report by the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee on the review of Xiang Ming’s case stated that the committee’s September 1955 "Report on the Inspection of Leadership and Opinions on the Handling of Comrade Xiang Ming" and its June 1957 "Summary Report on the Special Investigation of the Anti-Party Factional Clique Led by Xiang Ming," both submitted to the Central Committee, were erroneous. It was decided to revoke these reports and restore Xiang Ming’s Party life. In May 1963, Xiang Ming submitted a written report agreeing with the Shandong Provincial Committee’s conclusion and expressed "deep satisfaction." During the Cultural Revolution, Xiang Ming was again persecuted by Lin Biao and the "Gang of Four." On July 25, 1980, after a reexamination by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and approval by the Secretariat of the Central Committee, it was determined that the previous accusation that he "actively supported Rao Shushi politically, organizationally, and spiritually, and participated in the Gao Gang and Rao Shushi Anti-Party Alliance" could not be substantiated. The Central Committee decided to revoke the conclusion that Xiang Ming had participated in the Gao-Rao Anti-Party Alliance and the punishment imposed on him.

\[2\] In his letter to Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi dated July 1, 1962, Ju Renwu stated: "During the 1955 campaign to eliminate counterrevolutionaries, I was accused of committing ‘crimes against the Party and the people’ and was ordered on October 6 of that year to undergo ‘isolation and self-reflection.’ On December 28, 1961, although I was declared ‘released from isolation and self-reflection,’ the organization has never reached a conclusion on my case, nor has it provided any clarification regarding the rights and wrongs of the previous accusations. Now, however, I am to be assigned to work at a certain economic research institute. For this reason, I cannot but once again request that a corresponding conclusion be reached on my case. At the same time, I must explain that I suffer from multiple illnesses and am in extremely poor health, and therefore request medical treatment so that I may be able to sustain work in the future."
