Telegram on the Fifth Anniversary of the Treaty

To Comrade Walter Ulbricht, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany and Chairman of the State Council of the German Democratic Republic;
To Comrade Otto Grotewohl, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the German Democratic Republic;
To Dr. Johannes Dieckmann, Chairman of the Presidium of the People’s Chamber of the German Democratic Republic:

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and the German Democratic Republic, on behalf of the Communist Party of China, the Government of the People’s Republic of China, and the Chinese people, we hereby extend our warmest congratulations to you and, through you, to the Socialist Unity Party of Germany, the Government of the German Democratic Republic, and its people.

The Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation signed by China and the German Democratic Republic marks a milestone in the development of friendly cooperative relations between our two peoples. It has made, and will continue to make, a significant contribution to enhancing the friendship, solidarity, and mutual assistance between our two nations, to consolidating the unity of the socialist camp, and to the cause of safeguarding world peace.

The fraternal friendship between the Chinese and German peoples is founded upon the principles of Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism; it is eternal and unbreakable. The Communist Party of China, the Government of the People’s Republic of China, and the Chinese people highly value this profound friendship and will continue to spare no effort in strengthening and developing it.

Long live the everlasting fraternal friendship between the Chinese and German peoples!
