Respected Mr. Pridi Phanomyong:

Thank you for your congratulations on the 11th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and thank you for your good wishes to the Chinese people and to myself personally.

The peoples of China and Thailand share a long-standing traditional friendship. The fundamental interests of our two peoples are completely identical. Although at present there still exist serious obstacles in the relations between our two countries arising from U.S. imperialism and its lackeys, through the joint efforts of the two peoples, such obstacles will certainly be removed, and the friendly relations between the two peoples will surely be developed.

As you have pointed out, the present situation is extremely favourable to the people of the whole world. I am convinced that the Thai people will by no means tolerate the prolonged oppression of foreign aggressive forces. They will eventually take their destiny into their own hands, coordinate with the struggles of the people of all countries, break free from the chains of the military treaties of U.S. imperialism, and achieve complete national independence.

I wish you good health, and wish you success in the cause of promoting friendship between the Chinese and Thai peoples, safeguarding national independence, and upholding world peace.
