[1] Shangkun refers to Yang Shangkun, then alternate secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee.
[2] Refers to the report sent on 14 May 1960 by the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Trade, the Council for the Promotion of Foreign Trade, and the Commission for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries. It stated that over 53 days, 750,000 people visited our country’s industrial exhibition hall in East Pakistan. This exhibition had a profound impact in East Pakistan.
[3] Refers to the enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee to be held in Shanghai. This meeting took place from 14 to 18 June 1960.
