Batista is still weak.
Who is afraid of whom, after all? Is it America that is afraid of you, Cuba, or you that are afraid of America? I think it is America that is afraid of you. All imperialists are afraid of the peoples of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The era when we were afraid of imperialism has passed; now is the era when imperialism is afraid of us. Their numbers are few, and the things they do are very bad. They protect those reactionaries, those running dogs.
We welcome you very much to China. Do not think that we want to go to war with America. We do not want to go to war with America, and I believe you, Cuba, do not want to go to war with America either. If America wants to go to war with you, Cuba, this is to help you, to temper you. They are angry that you, the Cuban people, are not yet strong enough, so they want to step up your tempering. America's occupation of our Taiwan is also its way of wanting to temper us, to make us even stronger. The imperialists' suppression in Africa is also to temper you, to make you stronger.
America is now adopting various military, economic, and political methods in Latin America to suppress and deceive. But I see that the people are not afraid. The people's consciousness is rising. It is so in Africa, it is so in Latin America, and it is so in Asia as well. In the past, some people in China, especially the rich, believed very much in America. Now they are also slowly losing their belief, and their consciousness has been raised.
We must distinguish between the American people and the American imperialist elements. The American people are good; the bad people are the imperialist elements. It is the same with Britain, France, Belgium, and Portugal: the people are good, the imperialist elements are bad. The people of West Germany and Japan are also all good now; only the imperialist elements are bad. We have now learned to distinguish between these two kinds of people. Even with the imperialist elements, we are not prepared to have no dealings with them for ten thousand years. We are negotiating with America in Warsaw; we have been negotiating for several years and will continue to negotiate. If we talk for ten or twenty years, we will eventually reach a good outcome.
Thank you, friends, for talking about so many situations, which has given me a lot of knowledge. Ten years ago, the situation in China was the same as in the countries of most of the friends present, and also the same as in Cuba before January 1st of last year. Our country has been liberated for only ten years, and the people are organizing themselves to carry out construction. There have been some achievements, but they are not yet great. We are still a very poor country, and we will need to struggle for at least another ten or twenty years to be better off. We need your assistance and support, and at the same time, we also support your struggles. We must have mutual solidarity and mutual support. Your struggle is our struggle, your victory is our victory; our struggle is also your struggle, our victory is also your victory. We have no conflict of interest with you, only solidarity and friendship. The peoples of the East are rising up. For example, the people of South Korea have been waging a great struggle for the past half-month. In the last week, many people have risen up in Turkey, and now there is also a great struggle in Japan. There are American bases in all those places. Therefore, these American bases are not stable. When the people unite, they will defeat it.
I thank all you friends, and I celebrate our solidarity and victory, and the progression from the present struggles to future victory. Let us all have a glass of wine and toast to the victory of all anti-colonialist and anti-imperialist peoples of the world!
At the same time, we support the great power conference[1] and oppose a world war. On the one hand, we oppose a world war; on the other hand, we support the struggles within each country against imperialism. We use two hands, because the enemy also uses two methods to struggle against us.

[1] The great power conference refers to the meeting held in Paris on May 16, 1960, by the heads of government of the Soviet Union, the United States, Britain, and France. The conference was to discuss the further easing of relations between the Soviet Union and the United States in Europe and to seek ways to resolve major international issues. During the conference, Khrushchev demanded that Eisenhower make a public apology for the intrusion of a U.S. U-2 high-altitude spy plane into Soviet airspace on May 1, 1960. After his demand was refused, he withdrew from the conference, and the four-power heads of government conference aborted.
