In the over one million years of human history, the three hundred years of bourgeois rule represent a great leap forward. If the bourgeoisie could achieve a great leap forward, why can’t the proletariat achieve a great leap forward? At present, it is reasonable that some people do not believe in us. If you have nothing to show, how can others be expected to believe? To expect people to believe in us in a muddle-headed way is inconceivable. Only after a number of years, when we truly have something to show, and after repeated demonstrations, will they come to believe in us.

We are able to manage the over six hundred million people within our domain; other places are beyond our management. In some places we have embassies and can carry out all activities that are possible, but that does not mean we can act as their chief of staff. We cannot act as chief of staff for the United States or Britain, nor can we act as chief of staff for the Soviet Union. We must proceed in several stages to build our country into a powerful one, to make our people progressive, and to strive to bring our economy close to the level of the United States and the Soviet Union at that time. This mainly depends on doing our own work well. The focus of our work is to win over the people, including the workers, peasants, revolutionary intellectuals, and the revolutionary national bourgeoisie.
