Comments on the Fujian Provincial Party Committee’s Briefing on the Implementation of the Resolutions of the Eighth Plenary Session of the Eighth CPC Central Committee (October 16, 1959) This document [1] is good. Adopting such an attitude in communication is highly appropriate. Localities may take it as a reference. After having delivered one lecture, another could be given using a method similar to that employed in Fujian. This document is hereby sent to the party committees of all provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions for consideration and implementation as deemed fit. Mao Zedong, October 16, printed from the manuscript. Note [1] Refers to the fourth briefing submitted by the Fujian Provincial Party Committee to the Central Committee on October 9, 1959, concerning the dissemination of the resolutions of the Eighth Plenary Session of the Eighth CPC Central Committee. The report states that, in accordance with instructions from the Central Committee, we convened a symposium of democratic personages on September 25 to inform them of the resolutions of the Eighth Plenary Session. In the morning, the two resolutions of the plenary session and related documents were read aloud, and a recording of Chairman Mao’s speech delivered on September 15 at a meeting with leaders of various democratic parties and mass organizations in Beijing was played. In the afternoon, Comrade Ye Fei, First Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, addressed the attendees based on the spirit of Chairman Mao’s remarks. Following the briefing, most participants expressed support for the decisions of our Party Central Committee, stating that it had been highly educational for them. There was widespread recognition that launching a campaign against rightist tendencies and boosting morale were both necessary and timely. However, a minority still harbored varying degrees of surprise, speculation, suspicion, and confusion.
