(November 2, 1958)
Comrades—military personnel and civilians—on the Kinmen Islands, please take note:
Tomorrow, November 3rd, is an odd-numbered day. Under no circumstances should you come out. Attention, attention!
[!] Issued by Premier Zhou Enlai.
This afternoon (November 2nd), the Xiamen front-line radio station broadcast this message orally, repeating it three times.
[!] When this script was officially aired, Zhou Enlai added the following sentence before “tomorrow”: “Today, November 2nd, is an even-numbered day; we have not fired a single shot, and you have received your supplies.”
