Dongshan School in Xiangxiang was founded in 1895, originally named “Dongshan Academy.” Since its establishment, it has changed its name several times.
On September 10, 1958, Mao Zedong inscribed the name “Dongshan School,” which has been used ever since. The school boasts a long history and has produced many outstanding individuals. It is renowned for its glorious traditions of patriotism and revolution.
From autumn 1910 to spring 1911, Mao Zedong studied at Dongshan School in Xiangxiang County.
