National Day Telegram [I]
(July 21, 1958)
To Comrade Władysław Gomułka, First Secretary of the Polish United Workers’ Party;
To Comrade Aleksander Zawadzki, Chairman of the State Council of the Polish People’s Republic;
To Comrade Józef Cyrankiewicz, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Polish People’s Republic:

On the occasion of the fourteenth anniversary of the National Day of the Polish People’s Republic, on behalf of the Government and people of the People’s Republic of China, we hereby extend our warmest congratulations to you and, through you, to the Government and people of the Polish People’s Republic.

The Chinese people are delighted to note the significant achievements made by the Polish people under the leadership of the Polish United Workers’ Party and the Government of the Polish People’s Republic—achievements in developing the national economy and consolidating the socialist system, as well as in easing international tensions and safeguarding peace in Europe and throughout the world.

Over the past year, the friendship and cooperation between the peoples of China and Poland have once again attained new advances in all fields. The continued development of this friendly and cooperative relationship not only contributes to accelerating the socialist construction of our two countries, but also strengthens the unity of the socialist camp led by the Soviet Union.

We wish that the fraternal friendship between the peoples of China and Poland will be further consolidated and developed.
