This document is to be printed and distributed immediately to all comrades of the Military Commission meeting.
A very good document, worth a serious read, it can greatly broaden one's horizons.
This is your own affair.
Without modernized industry, how can there be modernized national defense? Rely mainly on our own efforts while seeking external assistance as a subsidiary, break down superstitions, independently develop industry, agriculture, the technological revolution, and the cultural revolution, strike down slavish thinking, bury dogmatism, conscientiously learn from the good experiences of foreign countries, and also be sure to study the bad experiences of foreign countries—taking them as a warning, this is our line.
So it is on the economic front, and so it should be completely on the military front.
Those who oppose this line, if they cannot persuade us, ought to accept this line.
“He can neither give orders nor receive them, he is a good-for-nothing” [2], having walked into a blind alley, may I ask what way out is there?
