Telegram of Congratulations from Mao Zedong et al. on the National Day of the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia

Comrade Petar Stambolić, President of the Federal National Assembly of the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia;

Comrade Koča Popović, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia:

On the occasion of the National Day of the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia, on behalf of the Chinese people and the Government of the People’s Republic of China, we hereby extend our warmest congratulations to you and, through you, to the fraternal Yugoslav people.

The friendship between the peoples of China and Yugoslavia has been continuously developing over the past several years. This year, the visit to Yugoslavia by the delegation of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, headed by Comrade Peng Zhen[1], as well as the successive friendly visits to our country by Comrade Vukmanović, Vice Chairman of the Federal Executive Council of Yugoslavia, and by a delegation of the Federal National Assembly of the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia, led by Comrade Stambolić, have further consolidated and strengthened the fraternal friendship and friendly cooperation between China and Yugoslavia.

We wish the Yugoslav people new achievements in the cause of building socialism, in strengthening solidarity among socialist countries, and in safeguarding peace in Europe and throughout the world.
