Notes [1] Qiaomu refers to Hu Qiaomu, who at that time served as an alternate member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and as Mao Zedong’s secretary. [ ] Refers to remarks made by Guo Moruo, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to a reporter from Guangming Daily concerning the campaign against the rightists, entitled “Clearing Away the Clouds to Reveal the Blue Sky.”
It was published in Guangming Daily on June 28, 1957. [ ] When People’s Daily reprinted these remarks on June 29, 1957, the title was changed to “The Dark Clouds Have Dispersed; the Sun Shines Even More Brilliantly—Guo Moruo on the Struggle Against the Rightists.”
