Following the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people waged an eight-year arduous war of resistance against imperialist aggression and ultimately achieved a great victory. In the more than two years since peace was restored, under the leadership of the Vietnamese Workers’ Party and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, they have again made tremendous achievements in economic recovery and national construction. I am confident that in the future, in developing the national economy and in the cause of peacefully reunifying the motherland, the Vietnamese people will surely attain new and even greater victories.
As Comrade the Ambassador has pointed out, for a long time the peoples of China and Vietnam have been closely linked in a spirit of fraternal, sincere friendship and cooperation. Over the past few years, relations between our two peoples and governments have grown ever closer, while economic and cultural cooperation and various forms of contact and exchanges have continued to expand and flourish. I am deeply convinced that the fraternal friendship between the Chinese and Vietnamese peoples will be further consolidated and developed. This will not only contribute to the prosperity and well-being of our two nations but also strengthen the solidarity of the socialist family led by the Soviet Union, as well as peace in Asia and throughout the world.
