Comments and Revisions on the Draft of the Central Committee’s Directive Transmitting the United Front Work Department’s Opinions on Strengthening the Work of Local CPPCC Committees
(December 24, 1956)

A paragraph has been added at the end of the Central Committee’s directive [1]. Comrades Shaoqi and Xu Bing [2] are requested to review it again and hand it over to Comrade Shangkun [3] for handling.

Around the summer of 1957, the Central Committee will convene a meeting specifically to discuss the work of the national united front. You are requested to make early preparations and conduct a thorough review and arrangement of the united front work (including work concerning ethnic minorities) in your respective regions. As for those comrades who are fond of putting on bureaucratic airs in front of non-Party figures and whose sectarian work style is extremely serious, they should be earnestly criticized and educated so as to rectify their attitudes and work styles.
