The Jianghan Bridge is located between Hankou and Hanyang in Wuhan City, connecting Wusheng Road in Hankou to the north and Yingwu Avenue in Hanyang to the south. It was the first highway bridge built over the Han River.
In 1953, the Wuhan Municipal Government decided to construct a highway bridge over the Han River, which was approved by the central government.
Designed and constructed in 1954, it was completed and opened to traffic on December 25, 1955. Mao Zedong personally inscribed the bridge name.
