Ensuring the Healthy Development of the Rectification Campaign [1]
(October 23, 1955)
All units in which “left” deviations have indeed occurred must take measures to overcome them; we should not shy away from acknowledging such deviations. Just as we must rectify rightist tendencies, we must also earnestly correct “left” deviations if we are to ensure that the rectification campaign develops healthily from beginning to end.

This is a passage added by Mao Zedong to the draft of his comments while reviewing the report forwarded on October 23, 1955, by the CPC Central Committee to the Five-Man Group of the Party Committees of State Organs and to the Ten-Man Central Group. The report, prepared by a five-member group from the Ministry of Public Health, examined the “left”-leaning errors and violations of organization and discipline committed during the rectification campaign at the Fourth Hospital directly under the central government.
