Critique and Revision of Deng Xiaoping's[I] Draft Speech at the Seventh Plenary Session of the Sixth Central Committee
(October 7, 1955)
Return to Comrade Deng Xiaoping.
This draft is very good. I have made a few revisions[2]; please review them.

Among those Communist Party members who hold right-leaning views on the socialist transformation of agriculture, there are indeed some who breathe the same air as the bourgeoisie; they are capitulationists to bourgeois ideology.
[I] Deng Xiaoping was then serving as Secretary-General of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council.
[2] Mao Zedong's revisions to Deng Xiaoping's draft speech on the issue of agricultural cooperativization at the Seventh Plenary Session of the Sixth CPC Central Committee, namely sections two and three herein, where the text printed in Song typeface represents words added and rewritten by Mao Zedong.

The majority among them, however, reflect the thinking of the well-to-do middle peasants.
All comrades who commit Right-leaning errors on this issue, because they share certain common points with bourgeois ideology outside the Party, will lose their vigilance, disarm themselves, and be unable to refute the fallacies of bourgeois elements with righteous conviction when the latter attack the Party. For instance, in 1953, there were people both inside and outside the Party clamoring about so-called "peasant hardship," and in 1955, there were again people both inside and outside the Party clamoring about so-called "low peasant morale for production." How can we expect such comrades to refute those fallacies outside the Party with righteous conviction?
