On the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the founding of the German Democratic Republic, we, on behalf of the Government and people of the People’s Republic of China, extend warm congratulations to you and, through you, to the Government of the German Democratic Republic and the entire German people.

Over the past six years, the German Democratic Republic has achieved significant successes in consolidating the people’s democratic system, building socialism, and raising the living standards of the people. The German Democratic Republic has become a strong bastion in the struggle for the peaceful reunification of Germany and an important factor in safeguarding peace and security in Europe. The Chinese people fully support the struggle waged by the German people for peace, reunification, and democracy, as well as the efforts made by the Soviet Union for a peaceful resolution of the German question.

May the friendly and cooperative relations between the People’s Republic of China and the German Democratic Republic develop and consolidate with each passing day! May the German Democratic Republic achieve new successes in its economic and cultural construction endeavors, and in the struggle for the peaceful reunification of Germany and collective security in Europe!
