Your letter and the attached brief biography of your father, the martyr Chen Chang[2], have both been received. Your letter from last year has also been received.
The biography has been forwarded to the Party history materials agency for reference. This is my reply.

[1] Chen Yun, at the time a teacher at the primary school affiliated with the Changsha Normal School in Hunan.
[2] Chen Chang, a member of the New People’s Study Society and an early member of the Chinese Communist Party. During the Great Revolution, he engaged in the workers’ movement in Hunan and served as director of the Shuikoushan trade union. After the defeat of the Great Revolution in 1927, he continued to persist in the struggle. In 1930, while en route to join He Long’s forces in western Hunan and Hubei, he was arrested and subsequently taken to Changsha, where he was executed.
