Telegram on the Tenth Anniversary of Liberation
(April 2, 1955)

Comrade István Dobi, Chairman of the Presidium of the Hungarian People’s Republic,
Comrade András Hegedüs, Acting Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Hungarian People’s Republic,
Comrade János Boldóczki, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hungarian People’s Republic:

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the liberation of Hungary, we wish, on behalf of the Chinese people and the Government of the People’s Republic of China, to extend to you, and through you to the Hungarian people and the Government of the Hungarian People’s Republic, our heartfelt and warm congratulations.

Over the past ten years, under the leadership of their own Working People’s Party and the Government of the Hungarian People’s Republic, the Hungarian people have victoriously consolidated the people’s democratic system and achieved brilliant successes in the socialist construction of their country. These successes have strengthened the camp of peace, democracy, and socialism headed by the Soviet Union, and have inspired the Chinese people, who are engaged in socialist construction. The Chinese people hail with the utmost joy the victories of the fraternal Hungarian people.

We sincerely wish the Hungarian people new victories in the cause of socialist construction in their own homeland, in the struggle to smash the new war schemes of the imperialist aggressive blocs, and in the struggle to ensure peace in Europe and throughout the world.

Chairman of the People’s Republic of China

Liu Shaoqi
