Your gracious letter and several of your esteemed works have been received, for which I am deeply grateful! I am greatly relieved to learn that your ailment is improving. Once you have fully recovered, I welcome you to visit Beijing.

Yang Shuda, courtesy name Yufu, became acquainted with Mao Zedong during his early teaching years in Changsha. He subsequently devoted himself to the teaching and research of philology and was then serving as a professor at Hunan Normal College.
