To be reviewed by Liu and Zhou,[3] then returned to Comrade Lu Dingyi.
All points proposed by Lu may remain unchanged, except that in the third line from the end of the article, the second sentence, the phrase beginning with “There is no time to lose…” should be deleted. This article may be broadcast, and may be published in newspapers in both Beijing and Hong Kong.

[1] Liang Shuming was then a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
[2] This critique was written on the request-for-instructions report submitted by Lu Dingyi, Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, to Zhou Enlai on 19 January 1955, concerning the revision and publication of Liang Shuming’s article “A Message to Compatriots in Taiwan.” Attached to the report were several points of revision Lu had proposed for the article. “A Message to Compatriots in Taiwan” was later published in *Renmin Ribao* on 3 February 1955 and in the Hong Kong *Wen Wei Po* on 5 February 1955.
