I believe that among China's great contributions to the world, Traditional Chinese Medicine is one. Traditional Chinese Medicine arose from a foundation of handicraft and agricultural production. Its theories of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth can be subjected to criticism, but its valuable experience must be protected and carried forward. To criticize, one must understand what science is; correct, systematic knowledge is called science. Whether Western medicine is scientific is also idealistic in some respects; things like mechanical materialism also need to be reformed. China should have one medicine, not two medicines for the long term. The name "Western medicine" is inappropriate; there should be one medicine based on dialectical materialism. Some people look down on Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is wrong. There are also those who over-exaggerate Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is also incorrect. Traditional Chinese Medicine hospitals should be established on a trial basis with a clear focus. Regarding the advanced training of traditional Chinese doctors, it is right to have them study basic courses, and courses for exchanging experiences should be added. It may be difficult to teach the pharmacology of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
