First, to conduct consultations on international issues. Second, to deliberate on the lists of candidates for deputies to the National People’s Congress and to the people’s congresses at corresponding local levels, as well as on the personnel composition of the committees of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference at all levels. Third, to assist state organs in mobilizing social forces to address issues concerning the relations among various social strata in public life; and to maintain contact with the masses, conveying their views and making recommendations to the relevant state authorities. Fourth, to consult on and handle matters related to cooperation within the CPPCC and between political parties and mass organizations. Fifth, on a voluntary basis, to study Marxism-Leninism and strive for ideological reformation.
