Letter to Xiong Zirong [1] (August 26, 1954) Brother Zirong: I have received your letter of July 30.
Your progress is most gratifying.
Your election as a People’s Representative is cause for congratulations.
As for your work, it would seem best to remain where you are; were you to move elsewhere, there might be fewer people who know you as well as they do in your present post.
With best wishes for your continued success, Mao Zedong August 26, 1954 Printed from the manuscript.
Notes [1] Xiong Zirong was a classmate of Mao Zedong’s at Hunan Provincial No. 1 Normal School and at that time served as a professor at Nanjing Normal College.
