Comrade Ambassador:

I am very pleased to receive the Letter of Credence from the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics which you have presented to me, and I sincerely thank you for your congratulations.

The fraternal friendship between the People's Republic of China and the great Union of Soviet Socialist Republics has, over the past four years, developed substantially and is being consolidated with each passing day. The Chinese people have always cherished the friendship of the Soviet Union. Today, as they undertake the work of large-scale national economic construction, they have come to even more deeply realize the incomparable value of the great friendship of the Soviet Union. The Chinese people will certainly, forever and with unremitting efforts, strive to continuously strengthen the close, friendly alliance and all-around cooperation between China and the Soviet Union. I am likewise convinced that the unbreakable alliance and cooperation between our two great countries not only fully conform to the interests of the peoples of both countries, but also play an incomparably tremendous role in consolidating the peace and democracy camp headed by the Soviet Union, and in safeguarding peace and security in the Far East and the world.

Comrade Ambassador, I extend to you a most warm welcome as you assume the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics to the People's Republic of China. In your work to consolidate the friendship, mutual assistance, and cooperation between China and the Soviet Union, you will receive the full support of myself and the Government of the People's Republic of China. I wish you complete success in your work.
