Reply Upon Accepting the Letters of Credence from Mr. Moenonuto, the First Indonesian Ambassador to China (October 28, 1953) Your Excellency, the Ambassador: It gives me great pleasure to accept the letters of credence tendered by Your Excellency on behalf of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, and I wish to express my profound gratitude for the congratulations conveyed through you from the President, the Government, and the people of the Republic of Indonesia.
The time-honored friendship between the peoples of China and Indonesia has, over the past three years, been further strengthened by the establishment of our new diplomatic relations.
I am confident that, with Your Excellency’s efforts, the friendly cooperative ties between China and Indonesia in the economic and cultural spheres will continue to grow ever closer.
Such enhanced friendly relations will undoubtedly contribute to the cause of peace in Asia and throughout the world, for which all nations are striving.
It is with warm welcome that I extend to Your Excellency the appointment as the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the People’s Republic of China.
In your mission to reinforce the friendly cooperation between our two countries, you may count on my full support and that of the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
