[1] This section consists of several slogans added and revised by Mao Zedong while reviewing the slogans for the celebration of May Day. The text printed in Song typeface represents the words added and revised by Mao Zedong.
[2] Liu refers to Liu Shaoqi. Zhou refers to Zhou Enlai. Chen refers to Chen Yun, who was then a secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and a vice premier of the Government Administration Council. Qiaomu refers to Hu Qiaomu, who was then a deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and Mao Zedong’s secretary. Luomai refers to Li Weihan, who was then the director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee.
[3] The slogans for the celebration of International Labor Day on May 1, 1953, were approved at the 48th meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee on April 20, 1953, and were published in the name of the CPPCC National Committee in Renmin Ribao on April 21, 1953.
