Address to the Logistics Academy (January 31, 1953) Comrades Li Juqui, President of the Logistics Academy, and all cadets and faculty members: I congratulate you on your achievements in preparatory studies and teaching, and I hope that in the future you will successfully fulfill the tasks of study and instruction entrusted to you by the Central Military Commission. For modern armies, well-organized rear-area logistics operations are of paramount importance. Any view that belittles logistical work—whether it is held that logistics is not an important specialized science, that it does not require systematic study, or that it does not demand professional mastery—is utterly erroneous. We must learn from the Soviet Army’s comprehensive development of its logistics system and carefully examine the conditions and experiences of logistics operations during the Korean War, so as to achieve the modernization and regularization of our own army’s logistics capabilities. All teachers, staff, and students of the Logistics Academy should stand united and strive with one accord to accomplish this glorious mission.
