This document has been read (2). It is very good. Regarding our previous discussion about issuing a supplementary public directive from the Central Committee to guide study, I believe there is no need to do so. A summarizing news report on the study could simply be published in the newspapers.

Qiaomu refers to Hu Qiaomu, who at that time served as Mao Zedong’s secretary and Deputy Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee.

This refers to the report submitted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee on December 9, 1952, to the Central Committee concerning the study conducted by senior cadres in over twenty institutions in Beijing of Stalin’s “Economic Problems of Socialism in the USSR” and the documents of the Nineteenth Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
