Yuan Zhongqian, that is, Yuan Jiliu, was Mao Zedong's Chinese literature teacher when he was studying at the Hunan Provincial First Normal School. He passed away in 1932. In 1952, the relevant departments in Yuan Zhongqian's hometown, along with Yuan's relatives and friends, planned to repair his grave and entrusted Luo Yuanbao to write a letter to Mao Zedong, asking him to write the tombstone inscription for Yuan Zhongqian. The inscription personally written by Mao Zedong was: The Tomb of Mr. Yuan Jiliu.
