Letter to Mao Yuju [1]
(August 21, 1952)
Brother Yuju:

Your letter has been received. Elder Mr. Li Shuqing and Brother Zou Puxun previously expressed their wish to come to Beijing for a visit. I believe this can be approved, as it would provide an opportunity to gain insight into conditions in the countryside. However, please make it clear to both of them: (1) They must make the decision themselves; traveling long distances inevitably involves certain risks; and (2) Their stay in Beijing should last only one to two months, after which they are to return home. If they agree to these two points, they may set out northward around September. Upon arrival in Changsha, they should contact Minister Liu Daoheng at the United Front Work Department of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the CPC to obtain travel expenses and arrange their transportation. A letter of introduction is enclosed—please forward it to Mr. Li and Brother Zou. As for any others who wish to come to Beijing, it would not be convenient to accommodate them this year.

Wishing you good health in the near future.
