Refers to Wu Han’s letter dated July 21, 1952, addressed to Mao Zedong, in which he again requested to join the Communist Party of China. In the letter, he mentioned that on January 3, 1949, he had already submitted a request to join the Party to Mao Zedong. On January 14 of the same year, Mao replied: “We approve your request. However, the timing of its implementation still warrants consideration; please discuss the details in person with Comrade Zhou Enlai.” After July 1952, Wu Han repeatedly renewed his application to join the Party. In March 1957, he was formally approved by the CPC Central Committee to become a member of the Communist Party of China.
