Letter to Yi Lirongchuan
(June 10, 1952)

Brother Lirong:

Your letter of June 9th has been received. It is very good that you have gained much from participating in the land-reform movement. Thank you very much for keeping me informed about various matters.

People say that in recent years your political progress has not been significant. This criticism is worth taking seriously. I also had the same impression during a conversation we had last year: fundamentally, you have yet to firmly establish the standpoint of the working people. Your participation in the current land-reform campaign may be helpful to you. The National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference holds study symposiums every week or every other week, and many senior comrades are actively engaging in study. I suggest that you attend; please make your own decision on this. With this reply.

Respectfully yours,

Mao Zedong

June 10th
