Reply on the Occasion of Accepting the Letters of Credence from Mr. Konšala, Ambassador of Czechoslovakia to China (March 18, 1952) Mr. Ambassador: It gives me great pleasure to accept the letters of credence entrusted to you by the President of the Czechoslovak Republic, and I am grateful for your warm congratulations. Over the past two years and more, the friendly relations between our two countries in the political, economic, and cultural spheres have been further strengthened. The Chinese people have consistently followed with keen interest the brilliant achievements made by the Czechoslovak people in their socialist construction since liberation, and we sincerely rejoice in these accomplishments. I am firmly convinced that the friendly cooperation between our two peoples will not only promote the prosperity of both economies and deepen our bonds of friendship, but will also contribute to the consolidation of the world peace and democracy camp led by the great Soviet Union. I warmly welcome Your Excellency to your post as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Czechoslovak Republic to the People’s Republic of China, and I stand ready to render every possible assistance in your efforts to consolidate and develop the fraternal friendship between our two peoples. May your country enjoy national prosperity and its people thrive, and may your Head of State enjoy robust health. Printed in the People’s Daily, March 19, 1952.
