"New Countryside" [I]
(1951)
New Countryside
The publication name inscribed by Mao Zedong for "New Countryside."
[I]
The predecessor of "New Countryside" was "Fanshen Yue" (Liberation Joy), published by the Northeast Bookstore.
It was first published in 1947 as a
monthly.
In June 1949, the name was changed to
"New Countryside," and it became a biweekly. Comrade Meng Wu from the Northeast Bureau's Propaganda Department
went to Beijing to see Lu Dingyi, the then head of the Propaganda Department, to request that Mao Zedong inscribe the publication name.
On September 9, 1958,
"New Countryside" was renamed
"Good Party Member."
