Mr. Xingyan: [1]

Your esteemed letter of December 20 has been duly received and noted. I have been somewhat busy lately regarding the matter you instructed, and will attend to it at a later time.

A certain Jiang Ziyu [2] has sent a letter from Chengdu, enclosing a ci poem to the tune of "Pure Serene Music" that he composed. I find it quite agreeable, and am sending it along for your perusal, with the request that you kindly return it. If you happen to know anything of this man's life, I would be grateful for a brief account.

With respectful regards,
Mao Zedong
