(December 18, 1951)
Comrade Shangkun [1] should investigate and handle the matter appropriately. This suggestion [2] is worthy of attention.

Notes
[1] Shangkun refers to Yang Shangkun, who at that time served as Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee.
[2] Wei Baogui, a clerk in the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote to Mao Zedong reporting that certain cadres in central government organs were using official cars to transport their children, who attended Yuying Primary School, resulting in waste of gasoline and other resources. He proposed that Yuying Primary School provide two or three vehicles specifically for transporting the children, and establish a pick-up point near Xidan where parents could meet and take over their children, thereby saving state funds and reducing parents’ travel time.
