Comments on a Letter from Workers of the Beijing Garment Factory

Comrade Peng Zhen[1]:

Please send a reliable person to conduct a thorough investigation and study of the wage situation at the Beijing Garment Factory. If it is truly as unreasonable as stated in the letter [2], it should be resolved.

[1] Peng Zhen, then serving as Alternate Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, and Mayor of the Beijing Municipal People's Government.
[2] The workers of the Beijing Garment Factory stated in their letter that during this wage adjustment, adjustments were not made to the wages of workers directly engaged in production, and that the livelihood of workers directly engaged in production had worsened compared to the past.
