Mr. Ambassador:
Reply at the Presentation of Credentials
(September 27, 1951)
I am very pleased to accept the credentials presented by Your Excellency from the President of the Union of Burma, and I thank Your Excellency for your congratulations.
China and Burma have long-standing and close relations in history and culture; the peoples of our two countries have further developed deep sympathy and understanding in the protracted struggle for national independence and freedom. I am deeply convinced that the development of diplomatic relations between our two countries will not only increasingly strengthen and consolidate the friendship already existing between our two peoples, but will also surely contribute to the peace and stability of Asia.
I warmly welcome Your Excellency as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Union of Burma to the People’s Republic of China, and I am willing to render assistance to Your Excellency in the work of strengthening friendly cooperation between our two countries.
I wish your country national prosperity and your people well-being, and I wish good health to the Head of your State.
