--- Notes

Letter to Zhang Yuanji [1] (September 5, 1951) Mr. Jusheng: I have duly received your kind letter of August 29.
Your “Liberation Song” clearly reveals your ardent and generous spirit.
All the suggestions you put forward are sound; among them, the compilation of a small Tibetan-language booklet is particularly urgent, and I have already instructed the relevant authorities to step up efforts to see it through.
My advance detachment for entry into Tibet will arrive in Lhasa within the next few days.
Along the way, we have been accorded a warm welcome by the Tibetan people, a fact I wish to bring to your attention.
With these remarks, I extend my best wishes for your continued good fortune.
