Note on a Letter from Bo Yibo [1] Concerning Fu Zuoyi [2]

Comrade Yibo:

I agree with your opinion [3]. Please handle the matter properly and prudently, unite with Fu and all cadres who can be united, and strengthen the education of these cadres.

[1] Bo Yibo, then First Secretary of the North China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Political Commissar of the North China Military Region of the People’s Liberation Army.
[2] Fu Zuoyi, former general of the Kuomintang government forces, who in January 1949 led his troops in accepting peaceful reorganization, contributing to the peaceful liberation of Beiping and Suiyuan. At the time, he served as a member of the Central People’s Government and Minister of Water Resources.
[3] In his letter to Mao Zedong dated July 11, 1951, Bo Yibo mentioned that Fu Zuoyi had raised the question of whether he should discuss his historical issues with everyone during the rectification campaign, and Bo advised him that it was not necessary.
