Annotation on the Report on the United Front Work Conference
(July 6, 1951)

This document [1] is very good. Distribute it to all central bureaus, and forward it to sub-bureaus and provincial, municipal, and district party committees for reference, and request that they handle matters in a similar manner, so as to strengthen the united front work of the entire Party.

1. It enabled cadres to recognize the positive role and the possibility of progress of democratic personages from various circles under the new circumstances, and criticized the previously existing erroneous thinking of underestimating them and arbitrarily and one-sidedly affirming that they were backward and would not make progress.
2. It rectified the mentality of not daring to lead democratic personages from various circles and the fear of trouble.
3. It resolved some ideological issues concerning the organizational development of the democratic parties, and furthered the understanding of the nature, history, role, and future of the democratic parties.
4. It reviewed the past thinking of not attaching importance to united front work or considering united front work to be solely the business of the United Front Work Department and a few leading comrades, clarified the tasks for future work, and strengthened confidence in united front work.
