Telegram to Chen Yi [1] Regarding the Urgent Need to Press Ahead with the Suppression of Counterrevolutionaries and Rectification Work (June 19, 1951) Comrade Chen Yi: After reviewing several reports on the suppression of counterrevolutionaries submitted by your subordinates, as well as your instructions on these reports, it is evident that such work within the East China Military Region has now gained considerable momentum, which is most gratifying.
I urge you to continue to press forward with this matter resolutely until its complete implementation, so as to achieve the goal of purifying our ranks and eliminating all counterrevolutionary elements.
However, you need only send us copies of the various unit reports and your corresponding instructions for our records; there is no need for us to issue separate directives on each case, in order to avoid unnecessary delays.
