Telegram to Peng Dehuai [1] Regarding the Troop Rendezvous and Relief of Frontline Positions by the Third Corps (June 2, 1951) Comrade Dehuai: Your telegram of June 1 has been received.
It is indeed necessary for the Third Corps, after completing its delaying-action mission, to withdraw to the Gushan area for reorganization and replenishment, so as to restore its combat effectiveness.
However, the defensive duties of the Third Corps along the line from Hwachon to Yeoncheon are of paramount importance and must be assumed by another unit.
The question is whether the Ninth Corps should take over these positions.
