Deal the Enemy the Heaviest Blows Possible[!]
(April 28, 1951)

Please note that in this campaign[1], deal the heaviest blows possible to the puppet 1st Division, the U.S. 3rd, 25th and 24th Divisions, the Turkish Brigade and the British 28th Brigade. It seems that during the next few days there is still such a possibility. If we can wipe out 15,000 to 20,000 enemy troops in this battle, it will be very advantageous to our future operations.

[!] This is a paragraph added by Mao Zedong to a telegram from the Military Commission of the CPC Central Committee approving the operational policy for the Fifth Campaign of the Chinese People's Volunteers.
[1] This refers to the Fifth Campaign. In this campaign, the Chinese People's Volunteers and the Korean People's Army committed a total of 15 armies and fought continuously for 50 days from April 22 to June 10, 1951, in the area near the 38th Parallel, wiping out over 82,000 enemy troops, smashing the enemy's plan to land on our flank and rear, coordinate with a frontal offensive, and establish a new defence line at the waist of Korea, and forcing the "UN forces" to go over to the strategic defensive and accept armistice negotiations.
