[1] "Military Studies" was the journal of the Military Academy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. In February 1951, Liu Bocheng decided to establish a publication at the Military Academy, namely the "August First Magazine," and reported this matter to Mao Zedong. Shortly thereafter, Mao Zedong wrote an instruction on Liu Bocheng's report: "The Central Military Commission plans to publish a magazine, which has been named 'August First Magazine.' Your publication may be called 'Military Studies.'" Subsequently, Mao Zedong inscribed the title for the "Military Studies" magazine.
